Samsung launched the successor to its Note Series in New York today. The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 was already leaked almost completely. We also shared the trusted parts of the leak and which came out to be true as always. Last year, Samsung launch Galaxy Note 8 which was similar to the Galaxy S8 but with a larger display and an S-Pen. This year, the design of Galaxy Note 9 is almost similar to its predecessor. However, there are some minor changes which we will discuss later on.
Talking about the specifications of the device, Galaxy Note 9 comes with a 6.4-inch Super AMOLED ‘Infinity’ Display with a resolution of 2,960×1440 pixels. The aspect ratio of the device comes out to be 18.5:9 considering the larger display of the Galaxy Note lineup. The body is made out of aluminum which looks premium in day to day use. As far as Glass protection is concerned, The device comes with Gorilla Glass 5 protection at the front and back too.
Galaxy Note 9 is IP68 certified, It makes the device water and dust resistance. The successor to last year’s Note 8 comes in four colors: Midnight Black, Coral Blue, Titanium Gray, and Lilac Purple. The device runs on Android 8.1 Oreo with Samsung Experience 9.0 on top. The lock button is present on the right and the volume rockers and Bixby button is present to the left.
Samsung’s latest Note runs on Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 as well as Exynos 9810 for some countries. The device is available in two storage options. First being 6 GB RAM/128 GB storage and the second being 8 GB RAM/512 GB storage (Half-Terabyte as Internal storage) and expandable too up to 512 (That’s again Half-Terabyte expandable storage).
The Power Game
Samsung Galaxy Note 9 comes with 4,000 mAh battery which is enough seeing it’s larger display. The Note is capable of gaming as well media consumption for a longer time. The phone has got USB Type C port for charging along with the headphone jack. To charge it up, Samsung has provided support of Adaptive Fast Charging; QuickCharge 2.0 and Wireless charging as well. For some markets, Galaxy Note 9 will support Single-sim and for some others, a hybrid slot is provided for Dual-Sim connectivity.
Talking about the Camera, It features Dual cameras at the back, placed horizontally. The fingerprint sensor is placed below the cameras with the flashlight being to the side of the dual cameras. The primary camera at the back is a 12MP sensor with a f/1.5-2.4 aperture (adjustable). The secondary being 12MP sensor as well with f/2.4 aperture. The rear cameras support OIS, 2x zoom, Videos at 2160p/60fps, 1080p/240fps slow motion, 720p/960fps super slow-motion.
To the front, It has got an 8MP sensor with f/1.7 aperture. This can record videos up to 1440p/30fps. As far as connectivity is concerned, The Galaxy Note 9 comes with Wi-Fi a/b/g/n/ac MU-MIMO; GPS, NFC; Bluetooth 5.0.
The major upgrade has been seen on the S Pen for the Galaxy Note series. Yeah, the S pen comes with Bluetooth connectivity which can make it work as a remote for specific functions. The button on the S Pen can be customized for some features to the particular apps which will let you use the S pen as remote for those apps. For an example, The S pen in the camera app can be customized to capture photos, Change to Video Mode or Change to Front or Back camera. This is an amazing upgrade to the Note series.
The Price & Availability
Talking about the price of Samsung Galaxy Note 9, The base variant starts at $999 for 6GB RAM/128GB Storage and the one with 8GB RAM/512GB storage costs $1,250. The pre-orders in the UK begins on 9th of August and the Packages will start shipping from 24th August,2018. The Pre-Order units might also come with some bonus or special gifts as per rumors.
