Finally, Its time to see the changed version of Google Tez in India. Although We might not see any major change in the app functionality still, the changes have been made. According to Google, After One year of Google Tez in India, they wanted to rebrand the app with a new identity; Google Pay. However, Google Pay global is totally different to what we will get here in India.

On the first anniversary of Google’s UPI based transaction application named Google Tez will be modified and rebranded as the new ‘Google Pay’. Google has finally started rolling out the updates to some of the users as of now. The exact version which includes the Rebranded app comes out to be v17.

By changing the name, Google doesn’t mean to change the functionality of the application. Google Tez was made for UPI transactions in India and will focus to work on that primarily. However, features may be added in the app from the Global variant of Google Pay which will ensure the users to get the best functions in the only application itself. The Cash mode transactions are now known as Tez Mode.

Google Pay allows the features which were present in the Google Tez application including the payments through UPI, Mobile recharge, DTH Recharge and much more. The app still has the feature to transact between users through the Audio-based medium. Changing the app’s name, Google didn’t change the User Interface as of now. You can simply use the app with the previous interface, However, Tez logo has been replaced with the ‘Google Pay’.

After this wonderful one year of Google Tez, The app has got 22 Million Users and had a transaction of over 750 Million in a year. This is definitely gonna change the future of Cashless transactions and will surely compete with startups like ‘Paytm’, ‘Freecharge’ and many others as well.
