After the amazing comeback of Nokia smartphones in the markets like India, China, USA, HMD Global has now launched the next smartphone in the series; Nokia 6.1 Plus. Previously HMD Global has launched many devices in India including Nokia 6.1, this was the turn for its successor. The phone comes at an amazing price of Rs. 15,999. In Fact, the phone can compete with the budget-centric device from the competitors like Xiaomi, Honor, etc.

Let’s talk about what you get in this Sixteen Thousand device which should attract you to purchase this device. The first and most important thing to remember is Its durability because the brand ‘Nokia‘ which was popular for its quality in the past before some collaborations. It was the good luck of Nokia phones that HMD Global is back with the same spirit, better Hardware & Software.

The Design

Talking about the design of the Nokia 6.1 Plus, the phone feels premium in hand and doesn’t hint of it being a budget device. More like the flagship smartphones, the back of this device is protected and finished with glass. The in-hand feel of the device makes the user fall in love with it. To the front, The ‘2018 trend’ or should I say ‘the Notch’ is present on the top. The Nokia branding is present on the little chin at the bottom of the device.

The Front

The device comes with the 5.8-inch IPS LCD screen with a resolution of 2280×1080 pixels with an aspect ratio of 19:9. As mentioned earlier, the front and back of the device are protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. To the back, the phone has dual cameras placed vertically. Below that, the fingerprint sensor is included. The Nokia branding is present on the middle of the back. The Glass protection at the back will definitely make this fingerprint magnet.

The Camera

Talking about the cameras, the primary camera present on the back comes out to be a 16MP sensor with an aperture of f/2.0. The secondary rear camera is a 5MP sensor with an aperture of f/2.4. Dual Tone LED flash is present below the Dual cameras. The Video features mentioned include 4K video recording at 30FPS, EIS (for 1080px only). Talking about the front, It features a 16MP sensor with an aperture of f/2.0. The video recording on the front can go up to 1080p.

The Performance

Nokia 6.1 Plus features Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 chipset with 1.8GHz 8x Kryo CPU. The device comes with 4GB LPDDR4X RAM and 64GB storage. The expandable storage on the device can go up to 400GB. The device comes with 3060 mAh battery along with the support of Quick Charge. The device runs on Android 8.1 and will upgrade to Android P too because of being an Android One device. The device comes in three colors: Blue, Black & White.

The Competition

Nokia 6.1 competes with the devices like Xiaomi Mi A2, Redmi Note 5 Pro, Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1. Talking about Mi A2, both the devices are from Android One series. The camera on the Mi A2 would be better as compared with the Nokia 6.1 Plus. The Lite version which is not launched in India having some lesser specifications than the Mi A2 could not compete with the Nokia 6.1 Plus. As far As, Android One devices are concerned, Nokia 6.1 Plus lies between Mi A2 and Mi A2 Lite, It all depends on your budget.

Talking about Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro, It is slightly cheaper than Nokia 6.1 Plus. The Redmi Note 5 pro having the same processor beats Nokia in the battery section. The Redmi Note 5 Pro comes with a larger battery than Nokia’s device. But Considering the fact, The Nokia 6.1 Plus comes with Android One program whereas the Redmi Note 5 Pro is based on MIUI, So, the battery management should be better on a pure stock Android device.

The Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 is also cheaper than this device. Both the device comes with the same chipsets. However, the Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 is packed up with tremendous 5,000 mAh battery which is huge compared with the Nokia 6.1 Plus’s 3060 mAh. So, If the budget is low and needs the best battery backup device only, You should definitely go for the Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1.

The Nokia 6.1 Plus is now available in two colors to pre-order from the official website of Nokia. However, The phone will be officially available on the Nokia website and Flipkart at a price of Rs. 15,999.
